Most people can wear either size Lena Cup but choose one over the other primarily based on flow amount, cervix height during menstruation and general physique.

  • Lena Cup Small is ideal for beginners, first-time cup users or users with a normal flow
  • Lena Cup Large is ideal for long-lasting protection or users with a heavy flow

2. How to clean your Lena Cup Menstrual Cup:

  • Boil your cup before the first use and between periods. Fill a pan with plenty of clean water. Bring to boil and let your cup float for 5-7 minutes while ensuring that the cup does not touch the bottom of the pan. Let your Zero Waste Lena Cup cool down before using it.

3. Easy guide on how to use your Lena Cup Menstrual Cup:

  • Insertion
  1. Wash. Using water and mild soap, wash hands and cup.
  2. Fold. Fold your cup.
  3. Relax. You can stand, sit or raise one of your legs. Hold your cup firmly folded and guide it towards your vagina.
  4. Separate. Relax your pelvic muscles and gently separate your labia with your other hand.
  5. Insert. Guide your cup into your vagina, pointing it upwards and slightly toward your tail bone. Aim to keep your cup folded until it is entirely inside of your vagina.
  6. Release. Gently release your folded cup – it will pop open and seal to your vaginal walls, not to your cervix.

  • Removal
  1. Wash. Using water and mild soap, wash your hands.
  2. Relax. Relaxing is essential for the removal of your cup. You can stand, sit or squat to remove your cup.
  3. Locate. Insert your fingers into your vagina and locate the base of your cup.
If you cannot reach it, gently bear your weight down and pull on the stem until you feel the base of the cup.
  4. If you cannot reach it, gently bear your weight down and pull on the stem until you feel the base of the cup.
  5. Pinch. Once you grab the base of the cup, pinch the bottom in order to release the suction seal.
  6. Remove. Hold the base of the cup and shimmy your cup from side to side while guiding it out. Keep your cup upright to avoid spills.
  7. Empty. Empty and wash your cup.
  8. Re-insert or Store. Once empty and clean, re-insert your Lena menstrual cup. If your period is finished, store your cup in its original Lena organic cotton bag or in any breathable container.

Lovely cup, but a little too long for women with a low cervix

I ordered this cup to replace my old one, but unfortunately found it to protrude slightly on the heaviest days of my period, like my old cup. After doing a little research, I learned how to measure the length of my cervix and discovered that I have a rather “low” cervix, meaning that this cup is slightly too long for me. It seems that women with a low cervix do better with shorter cups, whereas this cup would be perfect for a woman with an average to slightly low cervix. A shame for me, because the cup is quite pleasant to use. The silicone is smooth and soft to the touch, and the cup is quite flexible and easy to insert, while still firm enough to hold its shape. I would definitely recommend this product, with the caveat that uncertain women should measure their cervix first.

Different Than Other Cups

I am have used cups for about a year now and I love Eco. Roots, so I was excited to purchase my next cup from them. I had a lot of difficulty getting my new cup to feel comfortable as if felt like it was too low and protruding much of the time. It seemed to be thicker material and difficult to keep folded while inserting. I'm willing to give it another go, but if next time is as uncomfortable, I may switch back to the sadly less eco-friendly brand I had success with.
