Great natural low-waste toothpaste. I love the earth-friendly packaging and supporting a small business!
If you're used to using tube toothpaste and you try these, you'll probably be disappointed. If you're used to using other tooth tablets and you try these, you'll probably be disappointed. We tried the mint ones, and they smell great, but when using them all you can taste is the salty baking soda. I've found it helps if you have some water in your mouth while you put one in your mouth- it lets it dissolve a little and mellow out the baking soda taste. Do not bite them dry- it kind of burns on the tongue and the taste could make you gag. They don't foam up very much, so if you like a nice foamy lather while you brush your teeth you won't get that. Once you're done, the mint flavor eventually comes through, and I do feel like my mouth is clean, but it's not the mint-blasted powerwashed feel you get after using tube toothpaste. I appreciate the thought and effort put into making them, but I don't think I will buy this brand again unless improvements are made to the formula.
When I chewed the tablet as directed, I was met with a horrible acidic/peroxide taste and a gritty texture because it didn't fully dissolve as described. It was very unpleasant, to say the least. I've stuck to it for a few days hoping I would get used to it, but it just hasn't gotten any better. The only positive is that my mouth does feel clean afterwards, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of just 1.
Part of why I purchased this toothpaste is because EcoRoots is based out of CO where I live and I liked the idea of supporting a local company. What I didn't realize is that this product comes all the way from Britain, which is a bit counterproductive for anyone trying to reduce their carbon footprint! I should have done a little more research before making this purchase, which is on me. But it seems a little ridiculous for a company that promotes sustainability to sell a product from Britain instead of looking for US companies to work with.
Love the ease of use, minty fresh taste, and the plastic-free packaging is awesome. Easy to use and no toothpaste tubes going in the trash This has become for me one more small step toward living plastic free :)
These are horrible. I can’t make myself use them again. It is like an explosion of peroxide and baking soda in your mouth.
